When you begin to apply the keyboard shortcuts to those two main Edit windows (which are identical), it feels very different from the Xpand2 inversions. It’s important to recognise that the price tag is essentially only around the software, rather than the hardware, and whilst Avid might be able to charge a lot more for the hardware, they still make a profit from the software. The price for Pro Tools HD users is $6543.48. It’s important to remember that this is for a single user who has bought the full kit. If you’re considering Avid’s bundled deal, the price increases to $15,457, but Avid do retain a 20% discount when you take part in a comparison trial. And if you are purchasing a full Avid package you get the system, then extra software such as AE, Compressor, Soundtrack, a small selection of plug-ins, as well as the Native Hardware, which makes up the price for a system in the region of $120,000.
