I’m probably not the best person to answer this question, as in this thread , it’s implied it’s an issue with the Mozilla servers, not the T-Bird servers. It’s most likely a problem with your specific installation, so you should probably contact the T-Bird maintainers.
Whenever I started the update, Thunderbird started out with an email from the user about getting the update. But that email was full of links to download the new version (12) of Thunderbird which I am still on. However, the update process kept saying that Thunderbird version (102.2.0) was available (before I un-exited T-bird). I am running Ubuntu 12.04. So, I went to the Ubuntu software center and got the latest version of Thunderbird (61.5).
This advisory also notes a few issues with Thunderbird. We have been using the Outlook 2007 2007 Beta client and it shares the bug in the Windows client. But also the Outlook 2007 client is built on top of the Windows Messenger 7 client and we found that the Windows Messenger client has a bug in turning off SSL 3.0 and use of TLS 1.0 where the page tries to come back with an error instead of exiting the connection. I did not find any Thunderbird specific issues.
I posted the complete security advisory to our security channel where I found that no other users have reported any issues with Thunderbird besides a few cosmetic bug reports.
