I like waterfox, and never thought i would like anything less in a browser. But when i read that Mozilla was going to remove all of the xul extensions and open a new source code, for mozilla 1, i was turned off of Mozilla completely. But then i though about it. What if they just released a version that does not use xul extensions, but import my bookmarks, etc and i could update it like any other extension i wanted to?
Well then i tried it. I never liked using chrome, i liked to customize it like a son of a gun (oh don’t worry, i’ve got no kids). Well i played with the settings for the browser and it was awesome. So now i downloaded the waterfox 0.9.3.
It’s in beta and it’s has a lot of bugs. But it has some things that other browsers have. No telemetry, no deals, no stupid web addons and unlimited extensions. Well i thought it would be limited like chrome, but even the top 2 addons i already have in chrome are workin in waterfox. i can remove them if i want to if there’s no extension to do that.
Now i’m feeling comfortable about switching to waterfox again, as it’s stable, fast and i can add extensions that i used to add.
But then i think about how much i’ve been using Firefox. How i always thought that getting extensions to install and get rid of the list of addons that was slowing the browser down. How i also thought that if i wanted adblock or something else ill just download it and install it.

Woa, they are switching me away from the browser that i’ve used for five years? It’s just that i REALLY like the fact that i can get an extension to do what i want, how i want it to do it. Besides that, Mozilla is going with Chrome’s idea of “we don’t know how the browser will be used so we’ll just give the user everything and make the user figure it out for themselves.” That’s stupid to me. There’s no reason, in the last 5 years, for the browser to become bloated. It’s to slow and to expensive.
Mozilla used to have my trust, and i was hoping that this new clean slate with Chrome (very similar browser) would have maintained it. But i can’t trust anything that it has to offer. I’m now turning to a browser that is doing exactly what i want it to, and with no bloat. How the hell is that not happening?
Here’s the thing – i’ve had a mobile phone ever since i’ve been able to afford a phone. For years i’ve used Firefox Mobile and i’ve loved it. So much so, that for my birthday in 2014 i asked for a Macbook so that i could get the best browser.
